Government hands over 8 Vehicles to LC5 District Chairpersons to improve service delivery

The Hon. Minister Raphael Magyezi hands over a vehicle to the District Chairperson of Madi-Okolo.

The Hon. Minister Raphael Magyezi, Ministry of Local Government has handed over vehicles to the District LC5 Chairpersons of the newly created Districts of Obongi, Kazo, Rwampara, Kitagwenda, Madi-Okolo, Karenga, Kalaki, and Terego at Kololo Airstrip on 17th November ,2022

Speaking during the hand over, Magyezi retaliated Government’s commitment to improve service delivery by providing the vehicles to enable the LC5 leaders to monitor service delivery. He added that the first batch of vehicles were handed over in 2015/2016 to the Districts.

These vehicles will support the Local Government Leaders to carry out their cardinal role of monitoring services and community mobilization so that the people participate in Government Programmes.

The Minister implored the LC5 Chairpersons to keenly monitor PDM being one of the key programmes for effective implementation.  He emphasized that the vehicles handed over are property of the Government of Uganda to serve the citizens.

“I would like to appeal to the district leaders to ensure that these vehicles are strictly used for the intended purpose. You should ensure that necessary arrangements are made to include a provision in the district budget for maintenance of the vehicles you have received,” said. Rwabuhinga Richardson the President of ULGA.

Vehicles handed over to the District Local Government Leaders to support them carry out their cardinal role of monitoring services.
