The Minister of State for Local Government, Victoria Businge Rusoke has urged Chief Administrative Officers, Town Clerks and Mayors to desist from remotely administering their stations, citing that some executives don’t know what is happening in the sub counties in their districts.
“CAOs are at the engine that implements Government Programmes and policies. When we fail to implement, we are failing our people” she said.
The Minister made these remarks while opening the one day meeting of Local Government Accounting Officers that was held on 17th November, 2023, at the Imperial Royale Hotel, Kampala.
The quarterly meeting was convened to discuss and share current government policies and interventions aimed at promoting service delivery in the Local Governments.
Hon Rusoke urged the district leaders to reign in their poor performing staff using the available procedures and seek intervention from the Ministry whenever they face problems
