Today the Honourable Minister of State for Local Government Honourable Businge Victoria Rusoke appeared before the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries Chaired by Honourable Janet Okori Moe to respond to complaints raised by Ms. Fish Maws and Traders Association Uganda Ltd.
The specific issues raised by the traders that needed to be addressed by Local Governments are:
1. Charging for Trading Licences per year
2. Issuing Health Certificate Fees
3. Issuing Movement Permit for fish and other fish products.
“Overall the complaints of the traders have been well elaborated in the Fisheries and Aquaculture Act of 2022 however this will require sensitization and popularizing to bring all state holders on board”,Bunsinge said.
In her closing remarks she affirmed to the committee that the Ministry of Local Government remains committed to inspecting and coordinating the Local Governments to promote the fishery sector at the district level
