Residents Raise Concerns Over Service Delivery at Bukakata Health Centre III

Bukakata, Uganda – Residents living around Bukakata Health Centre III have raised concerns over the quality of healthcare services at the facility, alleging absenteeism among medical staff, misconduct, and the illegal sale of government-supplied maternal health items.

The concerns emerged during a visit by Hon. Balaam, where some community members claimed that the appearance of the health centre on the day of the minister’s visit did not reflect its usual state.

According to the residents, many doctors do not spend the night at the health centre as expected and often leave duty by early afternoon, affecting access to medical services.

“The doctors don’t sleep at the health centre, and when they work, they leave by 1 p.m. They only showed up today because they heard that Hon. Balaam was coming, and they cleaned up. The only good physician at the health centre is always drunk. Even the mama kits, which are supposed to be given free to mothers after delivery, are sold to new mothers, which is not allowed,” one resident alleged.

The allegations have prompted calls from members of the community for authorities to investigate the claims and ensure that health workers adhere to professional standards while safeguarding government medical supplies intended for free distribution.
