Masaka – Kajuna Church of Uganda Primary School has received renewed hope following a visit by Hon. Balaam, who assessed the school’s deteriorating infrastructure and pledged immediate intervention to improve the learning environment for its pupils.
During his visit, Hon. Balaam found the school in a worrying condition, with many pupils forced to attend lessons in the open because several classroom blocks have become too old, dilapidated, and unsafe for occupation. At the time of the inspection, light rain was falling, leaving children exposed to the cold and harsh weather while trying to continue with their studies.
Describing the situation as both dangerous and unacceptable, Hon. Balaam immediately directed the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to put up temporary classroom structures to accommodate the learners currently studying outside. He emphasized that no child should be forced to learn under such unhealthy and risky conditions while awaiting the construction of permanent facilities.
The school community also expressed gratitude to the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), under the leadership of the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, for constructing one classroom block at the school. According to the school’s administration, the new block has significantly reduced the number of pupils learning in the open and has provided a safer environment for many learners.
Teachers, parents, and local leaders requested Hon. Balaam to convey their heartfelt appreciation to Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the support extended to the school. They noted that the UPDF’s contribution has made a meaningful difference in improving education at Kajuna Church of Uganda Primary School.
In another encouraging development, Hon. Balaam confirmed to the school administration and the local community that Kajuna Church of Uganda Primary School has already been included in the district’s development budget for the 2026/2027 financial year. This allocation is expected to facilitate the construction and rehabilitation of additional classroom blocks and other essential infrastructure needed to create a conducive learning environment.
Hon. Balaam reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that every child has access to safe, dignified, and quality education. He assured the community that he would continue working closely with the district leadership and other stakeholders to ensure that the planned interventions are implemented without unnecessary delays.
