Kyanamukaka, Masaka District – The Minister of Local Government, Hon. Balaam Barugahara, has commended the management and staff of Kyanamukaka Health Centre IV for their commitment to delivering quality healthcare services during an inspection visit to the facility.
While interacting with patients receiving treatment at the health centre, Minister Balaam sought to establish whether medical personnel reported for duty consistently. The patients unanimously confirmed that the doctors and other health workers are always present and available to attend to them.
The minister also inquired whether patients were required to pay for medication at the government health facility. The patients expressed satisfaction, noting that they receive their prescribed medicines free of charge without being asked for any payment.
Impressed by the positive feedback, Minister Balaam applauded the health workers for their dedication and urged them to maintain the high standards of service delivery. He further encouraged patients to promptly report any challenges or misconduct through the office of the Resident City Commissioner (RCC), emphasizing that the RCC’s office is available to address public concerns and ensure accountability in government service delivery.
During his inspection, the minister identified the need to improve the waiting area by installing a ceiling to provide a more comfortable environment for patients. He immediately directed the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to facilitate the necessary works and ensure the improvement is undertaken as soon as possible.
Minister Balaam also toured the maternity ward, where he observed that the facility is operating beyond its intended capacity. Noting that the ward is packed with expectant and new mothers, he emphasized the urgent need for additional space to accommodate the growing number of patients and improve the quality of maternal healthcare services. He called on the relevant authorities to prioritize the expansion of the maternity ward to better serve the surrounding communities.
