State Minister Nameere Gives UEDCL Monday, September 6 Deadline to Restore Power in Kiziba Village

The State Minister for Local Government, Honourable Justine Nameere Nsubuga, has given the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) until Monday, September 6, to replace a faulty transformer and restore electricity supply to residents of Kiziba Village in Masaka City.

The Minister raised the concern following complaints from the Kiziba community over persistent power outages that have disrupted businesses, households and other daily activities for nearly two months.

Officials from UEDCL, led by Mr. Mutebi Evans, who represented the Masaka Manager during the Minister’s visit, said the complaint had been raised with the head office and that arrangements were underway to replace the faulty transformer.

However, Honourable Nameere directed the officials to ensure that the transformer is replaced by Monday, September 6, stressing that residents should not continue suffering due to delays in service delivery.

She warned against what she described as “sleeping on the job,” emphasising that government officials and service providers must respond promptly to the concerns of the people and deliver the services expected of them.

The Minister made the remarks during a visit to Kanabukuliro Village in Bisanje Ward and Kiziba Village, both in Kimanya/Kabonera Division, Masaka City, as part of efforts to improve service delivery and accountability.
