State Minister Nameere Begins Budaka Anti-Corruption Drive with Scrutiny of Service Delivery

The Minister of State for Local Government, Hon. Justine Nameere , has kicked off the anti-corruption drive in Budaka District by putting the district’s service delivery status under scrutiny before embarking on field inspections to establish the situation on the ground.

The engagement opened with the Chief Administrative Officer presenting a status report covering education, health, the Parish Development Model (PDM) and other areas of service delivery.

Hon. Nameere questioned officials on accountability concerns across the different sectors, including the action taken against individuals accused of mismanaging PDM funds. She challenged health facility in-charges to disclose whether they have ghost workers and headteachers to reveal any ghost learners before her inspection team reaches their institutions.

The District Service Commission was also questioned over complaints of alleged bribery in recruitment, with the Minister seeking explanations on the recruitment process and whether it is transparent, merit-based and compliant with public service procedures.

Hon. Nameere called for integrity among public officers, warning that corruption by some officials undermines public confidence and tarnishes the work of those committed to serving citizens diligently. She urged public servants unwilling to serve citizens ethically to step aside and allow those ready to serve with integrity to do so.

The Minister has now embarked on field inspections, beginning with Budaka Health Centre IV and Bugwere High School before proceeding to selected roads and later engaging PDM leaders and communities in Butete and Nampagala parishes.

The inspections will enable the Minister to compare the status presented by district officials with the actual state of service delivery on the ground.
