Soroti District Updates : Summary of Today’s Activities – 30 July 2026

  1. Scouts Camping Ongoing
    The Soroti District Scouts Camp continued at the Majengo Scouts Campsite. The official opening was held today officiated by the RDC. The CAOs office was represented by the Communication Officer. The District Chairperson (LCV) will officially close the camp on Sunday, 2 August 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
  2. Oil Seed Value Chain Stakeholder Workshop
    The production Department participated in a stakeholder platform workshop at Eneku Village, Soroti, organized by SOCADIDO. The workshop brought together representatives from NARO, agro-input dealers, processors, off-takers, District Agricultural Officers (DAOs), District Commercial Officers (DCOs), and the Agriculture Insurance Consortium to discuss strengthening the oil seed value chain. Participants also encouraged farmers to take advantage of the onset of the second rainy season by preparing their land and planting on time.
  3. UWEP and YLP Recovery Radio Talk Show
    The Community-Based Services Department hosted a radio talk show on Etop Radio to discuss the progress and recovery strategies under the Uganda Women Entrepreneurship Programme (UWEP) and the Youth Livelihood Programme (YLP). The discussion emphasized accountability, loan recovery, and continued support for local economic development and community empowerment.
  4. Tourism Development Engagement
    The Commercial Department joined the Iteso Cultural Union and tourism stakeholders in discussions on promoting tourism in the Teso Sub-region. The team toured the East African Civil Aviation Academy, Soroti, to explore its potential as a tourism and conference destination. The engagement was attended by Miss Tourism Teso 2025/2026, the 1st Runner-up Miss Tourism Teso 2025/2026, and Miss Tourism Kenya, reaffirming a shared commitment to positioning Teso as a leading tourism destination.
