MARACHA — Hon. Balaam, has raised concerns over the Shs650 million reportedly spent on Loinya Health Centre III in Yive Sub County, Maracha District, saying the amount does not match the infrastructure on the ground.
Speaking during the visit in Give Sub County, Hon. Balaam toured the facility and was shocked by the state of health center compared to the funds allocated.
“The records show that 650 million shillings was spent on Loinya Health Centre III. But what we have seen here is not equivalent to that money,” Balaam told residents. “We cannot continue to spend huge sums of taxpayers’ money and get very little to show for it.”
Loinya HC III serves several villages in Yive Sub County and neighboring areas in Maracha District. Residents told the minister that the facility still faces challenges with inadequate wards, staffing, and medical supplies despite the reported expenditure.
The minister said he will task the Ministry of Health and relevant oversight bodies to audit the project and establish how the funds were utilized. He also called on district leaders and contractors to be accountable to the communities they serve.
