Ntoroko District has pledged full support towards sustaining the achievements of the Local Economic Growth Support (LEGS) Project, implemented by the Ministry of Local Government with financing from the Lives and Livelihoods Fund (LLF), the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), and the Government of Uganda.
The commitment was made during the ongoing LEGS Supervision Mission, a formal exercise aimed at reviewing the project’s overall progress, documenting key lessons learned, and agreeing on strategies for a smooth and structured closure process.
Speaking during the Mission, Mr. Agum Moses, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Ntoroko District, assured the visiting delegation that the district is determined to sustain the achievements registered under the project, particularly the community access roads that have enhanced connectivity and stimulated local trade.
The Mission, led by Dr. Mouchili Mayoua, Country Operations Manager – Islamic Development Bank IsDB), visited key project sites in Ntoroko District, including the Kimara Valley Dam, a 6,000-cubic-metre water reservoir serving more than 250 households and 5,000 heads of cattle.
The delegation also visited the Butungama Livestock Market and the Karugutu Sub-County Women’s SACCO, that received a Agro processing facility with maize and rice milling machinery to ensure value addition.
The Islamic Development Bank assured continuous support to the Government of Uganda through the upcoming LEGS Phase II, which is set to expand interventions to 55 districts across the country. The new phase will build on the successes of LEGS I, deepening the impact of local economic growth and resilience among communities.
