About the
National Oil Seeds Project

The National Oil Seeds Project (NOSP) is a $144.55 million initiative funded by IFAD, the OPEC Fund, and the Government of Uganda, aimed at fostering inclusive rural transformation by sustainably developing the oilseeds sector. With the core objective of accelerating commercialization in key oilseed value chains to enhance smallholder livelihoods and resilience, the project is led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), while the Ministry of Local Government (MoLG) coordinates the critical market linkage infrastructure component.

NOSP is a comprehensive program that combines agricultural support with critical infrastructure development, with the MoLG playing a pivotal role in unlocking market access for oilseed farmers through the construction of rural roads.
