Residents of Nampangala Parish say the Parish Development Model (PDM) is helping improve household incomes as the Minister of State for Local Government, Hon. Justine Nameere Nsubuga, inspected the operations of the area PDM SACCO.
During the engagement, Hon. Nameere met the SACCO leadership and committee members and reviewed the implementation of the programme in the parish.
The Minister also called upon beneficiaries who had received PDM funds to come forward and confirm receipt. Several beneficiaries presented themselves and shared their experiences with the programme, with feedback indicating that implementation in the parish is progressing well.
The inspection, however, identified a concern involving some members of the PDM committee who had also allocated themselves programme funds despite being responsible for overseeing its implementation.
Hon. Nameere directed the affected committee members to return the funds to the SACCO so that they can be accessed by eligible beneficiaries. She warned that those who fail to comply should be removed from the committee.
Overall, residents said they are seeing benefits from the programme and appreciated the support it is providing to households in Nampangala Parish.
