Honourable Justin Nameere last Friday met with accounting officers from Masaka City and its divisions at the Ministry of Local Government headquarters to discuss strategies for strengthening service delivery and accelerating development in the city.
The meeting focused on key government programmes and development priorities, including the Parish Development Model (PDM), waste management, the Road Fund, market operations, and ongoing infrastructure projects, including the construction of the Masaka City Stadium.
The engagement provided an opportunity to review progress in these areas, assess implementation of government programmes, and identify practical ways of enhancing efficiency, accountability, and service delivery to the people of Masaka.
The Minister also followed up on the recovery of agricultural gardens that had previously been affected by prolonged drought. With the return of the rains, she sought updates on whether farmers were beginning to experience improvements in crop growth and productivity.
In addition, she inquired about the distribution and receipt of government provided fertilisers, emphasising the importance of ensuring that the agricultural inputs reach their intended beneficiaries and contribute to improved agricultural production and household livelihoods.
Honourable Nameere further emphasised the need for accounting officers to strengthen the monitoring and supervision of all government projects and programmes to ensure that they are implemented effectively and deliver the intended results.
She underscored the importance of accountability, proper coordination, and efficient utilisation of public resources in advancing development and improving the quality of services delivered to citizens.
She reaffirmed the importance of effective implementation and continuous monitoring of government programmes as part of the broader effort to transform Masaka into a model city distinguished by improved service delivery, sustainable development, and accountable leadership.
