HOIMA CITY, 9th October 2026 – Hon. Balaam, this afternoon extended his Independence Day field inspection to the Hoima Taxi Park, where taxi drivers and operators raised serious complaints about extortion and poor infrastructure.
During the visit, Hon. Balaam established that illegal taxes are being collected from taxi drivers. He directed that the collection should stop immediately and ordered that the person who has been collecting that money must give full accountability for all funds collected.
He also found that the taxi park has no marrum, making it impassable and difficult to operate from. Drivers said the park floods heavily whenever it rains, paralyzing business and damaging vehicles.
Hon. Balaam assured drivers that government will intervene to grade the park, improve drainage and stop all illegal levies that are not sanctioned by law.
