Rukungiri – The Minister for Local Government, Hon. Barugahara Balaam Ateenyi, today made an inspiring stopover at Immaculate Heart Girls School Nyakibaale in Rukungiri District as part of his ongoing service delivery tour in Kigezi Sub-region.
Hon. Balaam was accorded a warm welcome by the Headteacher, Sr. Sabina Tumusiime, staff and learners, with a vibrant performance from the school brass band.
Addressing the learners, the Minister challenged the girls to grow into responsible, God-fearing and patriotic citizens who will contribute to the development of Uganda.
He urged the students to remain focused on their studies, respect their teachers and parents, and work hard to become future leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs.
Hon. Balaam also cautioned the learners against drug abuse and peer pressure, warning that drugs destroy dreams and jeopardize their future.
“Stay away from drugs. They will kill your future. The country needs you as doctors, engineers, teachers and leaders. Focus on your books, be disciplined and be proud to be Ugandan,” Hon. Balaam told the learners.
Sr. Sabina Tumusiime thanked the Minister for finding time to visit the school and for his message of hope, saying it had motivated the girls to aim higher.
