Hon. Minister Balaam has inspected the stalled Kanyeite Bridge project in the Katete area of Mbarara City following concerns over delays in its implementation despite the release of substantial government funding.
During the inspection, the minister was informed that approximately UGX 500 million had been allocated for the construction of the bridge. However, only limited work has reportedly been completed, raising questions about the progress of the project and the utilization of the funds.
Hon. Balaam said the government is committed to ensuring accountability in the implementation of public projects and warned that any evidence of mismanagement or misuse of public resources would be addressed through the appropriate authorities.
The minister assured residents that their concerns had been noted and pledged to follow up with the relevant authorities to establish the cause of the delays and ensure that appropriate action is taken. He reiterated that government-funded projects must deliver value for money and serve the interests of the public.
