Commissioner Local Councils Development

The Local Councils Development Department plays a central role in strengthening the capacity, functionality, and accountability of local councils at all levels, in line with the country's decentralization policy. The department provides policy guidance, capacity building, and oversight to ensure that councils effectively fulfill their mandates. It supports participatory governance by promoting transparency, community engagement, and the formulation of local legislation. Additionally, the department addresses governance challenges through training in conflict resolution and leadership, thereby enhancing service delivery and responsive local governance across Uganda.
