The leadership of the Local Government Staff Co-operative Savings and Credit Society (LGS-SACCO) has called on staff of the Ministry of Local Government, District Local Governments and Municipal Councils to join the SACCO and take advantage of opportunities to save and access affordable credit.
The call was made by Mr. Christopher Magezi, Secretary Manager of LGS-SACCO, who encouraged staff and Accounting Officers who have not yet joined to enrol and benefit from the SACCO’s financial services.
Members can access saving-based loans of up to Shs. 30 million at an interest rate of 1.5 percent per month on a reducing balance, while building their savings through monthly contributions.
The SACCO is registered by the Registrar of Cooperatives and regulated by the Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority (UMRA). Membership requires a one-time fee of Shs. 100,000 and at least one share worth Shs. 50,000, which can be paid through authorised monthly salary deductions.
The SACCO leadership called on eligible staff to complete the membership application form and authorise monthly deductions to start saving and access affordable financing.
