Hon. Minister Balaam has ordered the interdiction of four senior government officials in Mbarara, in a move aimed at facilitating administrative processes and investigations in accordance with public service regulations.
The officials affected by the directive are:
Ms. Justine, Town Clerk of Mbarara City.
The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Mbarara District.
The Environment and Natural Resources Officer.
The Procurement Officer.
The interdiction takes immediate effect and temporarily relieves the affected officials of their duties pending the completion of the relevant administrative and investigative processes. Interdiction is an administrative action intended to allow investigations to proceed without interference and should not be interpreted as a determination of guilt.
The reported interdictions come amid concerns over the management of public revenue in Mbarara City.. According to official information, the city is alleged to have lost approximately UGX 26.6 million in street parking revenue over a six-month period. The circumstances surrounding the reported revenue shortfall are expected to form part of the ongoing administrative and investigative processes.
The investigations are also expected to examine the management of revenue generated from the Mbarara City abattoir. Authorities are looking into the collection and accountability of these funds as part of broader inquiries into the city’s financial management.
