NTOROKO – Hon. Balaam, has visited Karugutu Health Centre IV in Ntoroko District following an outcry from residents over alleged extortion and sale of government drugs.
According to the residents, patients at the government facility are asked to pay money before receiving treatment, while government-supplied drugs are allegedly diverted and sold privately to desperate patients.
Speaking briefly to the gathered residents, the minister assured them that their complaints had been heard at the highest level.
“I made a brief stop here because I could not ignore your cries. I have listened to you. I assure you I am going to return, because Ntoroko has more problems than I thought,” Hon. Balaam said.
He commended the community for their courage to speak out openly against corruption in a public facility.
“I want to thank you, the residents of Karugutu and Ntoroko at large, for speaking out and for exposing the corruption that is happening here. Many suffer in silence, but you have chosen to speak. That is patriotism,” he added.
