MITOOMA — Minister for Local Government, Hon. Balaam Barugahara, is currently in Mitooma District where he has stopped at Nyakatete Bright Future Primary School on his way to chair an anti-corruption meeting.
At the school this morning, Hon. Balaam found that funds for renovations were released, but the work done so far is shoddy and does not reflect value for money.
During the inspection, the minister observed cracked walls, poor plastering, and substandard materials used on structures that were meant to be renovated with government funds.
“Money was released for these renovations, but the work done here is shoddy,” Hon. Balaam told school management and local leaders. “We cannot have public funds wasted while our children continue to learn in poor conditions.”
Hon. Balaam has directed that the Bills of Quantities — BOQs — for the renovation project be presented at the anti-corruption meeting he is chairing in Mitooma District later today.
