Hon. Balaam Engages Women Market Vendors in Isingiro

As part of the implementation of H.E. the President’s directive to expose and eliminate corruption in Uganda, Hon. Balaam visits Isingiro District, where he meets with women market vendors to listen to their concerns following the enforcement of the trade order.

During the engagement, the women explain that they are required to pay for trading space but continue operating under poor conditions without adequate market structures. They appeal for government intervention to improve the market so they can conduct their businesses in a safe and dignified environment.

After listening to the vendors, Hon. Balaam emphasizes that women entrepreneurs deserve a conducive working environment that supports their businesses and livelihoods. He reiterates that government programs are intended to uplift citizens and that public officials must ensure resources are used transparently and effectively.

Hon. Balaam directs the Town Clerk to support the construction of better market structures for the women traders to enable them to operate in a more organized, secure, and hygienic environment. He notes that improving market infrastructure will not only benefit the vendors but also enhance trade and local economic development.
