Hon. Balaam Disbands Butaleja Service Commission as Anti-Corruption Drive Intensifies

BUTALEJA, Uganda — Hon. Balaam has disbanded the Butaleja District Service Commission with immediate effect, following a meeting with political and technical leaders in the district.

The meeting is part of the government’s intensified campaign against corruption and abuse of public resources. Hon. Balaam warned leaders against practices that undermine service delivery and compromise public institutions.

He said the disbandment is an administrative intervention to restore integrity, transparency and efficiency in local government. The District Service Commission is responsible for recruitment and management of public servants, making its performance critical to service delivery.

The Minister stressed that public office must be about serving citizens, not personal gain, and that government will not tolerate corruption at any level. He urged leaders to ensure funds are used for their intended purposes and to cooperate with oversight agencies.

Hon. Balaam also challenged Butaleja leaders to improve monitoring of government programmes in health, education, roads and agriculture, where mismanagement directly affects communities. He encouraged residents to report suspected corruption through official channels.
