Hon. Balaam Commends Kahama HCII Staff for Cleanliness and Service Delivery

RUKIGA — Hon. Barugahara, has commended health workers at Kahama Health Centre II for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and professionalism in health service delivery.

The Minister visited the facility on as part of the ongoing anti-corruption and accountability tour in the Kigezi sub-region. The tour, which covers Kabale, Rukiga, Rubanda and Kisoro districts, is aimed at operationalizing H.E. President Yoweri Museveni’s directive to expose and eliminate corruption, strengthen accountability and improve service delivery in Local Governments.

At Kahama HCII, Hon. Barugahara inspected the facility, interacted with staff and patients, and thanked the team for keeping the health centre clean and well-organized.

According to the Minister, essential medicines were available, laboratory equipment was present and fully operational, and maternity services were functioning.

Residents who were at the facility told the Minister that they are attended to professionally and receive timely services.

Kahama HCII is a parish-level facility which, according to government health policy, serves a few thousand people with out-patient care, antenatal services and treatment of common diseases like malaria. The facility was strengthened under the World Vision AIM Health Project funded by Irish Aid between 2011 and 2016.

The support has helped stabilize maternal and child health services in the area, at a time when Rukiga District continues to face health infrastructure challenges. Local leaders have previously raised concern that with a population of over 106,000 people, the district is served by only two Health Centre IVs and has called for a district hospital.

Hon. Barugahara said facilities like Kahama HCII demonstrate how government partnerships with development partners like Irish Aid and World Vision Uganda, together with committed health workers, can deliver quality primary health care.

He urged staff to maintain the standards and called on the community to continue utilizing government health facilities and to support monitoring of health services.
