HOIMA CITY — The Ministry of Local Government has confirmed Hoima City’s readiness for tomorrow’s National Clean-Up Day, an initiative of the Office of the Prime Minister, following final checks at key sites across the city.
The MoLG team first held a preparatory meeting with city leaders and technical representatives from OPM and the Ministry of Health to review preparations for the exercise. After the meeting, the MoLG team conducted spot checks across the city to assess readiness and provide support where needed. At Hoima Central Market, the main clean-up site, the team reviewed preparations for the launch of the exercise, which will have Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja as Chief Guest.
The team also visited the Hoima Compost Plant, where waste collected during the clean-up exercise will be taken for disposal and management, confirming preparedness to handle the anticipated waste.
The checks extended to Hoima City Stadium, where the team assessed hygiene, sanitation and cleanliness around the facility. With Hoima preparing for AFCON 2027, the National Clean-Up Day also provides an opportunity to intensify cleanliness and sanitation efforts as the city prepares to host the continental tournament.
