Namisindwa District –
The headmaster and deputy headmaster of Bukhabusi Primary School in Namisindwa District have been directed to step aside following a surprise inspection by Hon. Balaam, who found both school administrators absent during his visit.
According to the minister, the decision was made after allegations emerged that the headmaster rarely reports to duty. The deputy headmaster was also accused of irregular attendance, with reports indicating that she only comes to school whenever she chooses.
In the wake of the developments, the school’s Director of Studies has been appointed as the acting headmaster to ensure the institution continues to operate smoothly as investigations proceed.
The visit also uncovered allegations that the school had been charging pupils fees, a practice Hon. Balaam described as illegal. He emphasized that learners in the government primary school should not be required to pay school fees and directed that the practice be halted immediately.
To reassure the pupils, the Acting Minister of Education addressed the school via a telephone call that was broadcast through the public address system. The minister urged the learners to remain calm, continue attending classes, and concentrate on their studies while the Ministry of Education and Sports resolves the administrative issues affecting the school.
The Acting Minister also assured the students that comprehensive investigations into the conduct of both the headmaster and deputy headmaster would be carried out, and that appropriate action would be taken based on the findings.
