BUNYANGABU DISTRICT — The Headmaster and Chairman of the Parents Teachers Association at Buheesi Secondary School have been arrested by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit following allegations of collecting exaggerated fees and sending away students.
The arrests came after Hon. Balaam visited the school and exposed the practice. During his inspection, he found that learners were being required to pay construction fees every term, yet there were no new construction projects in place.
Hon. Balaam told school management that charging learners excessive and unaccounted fees contradicts government policy on affordable education. He said sending students home over such fees denies them their right to learn.
The State House Anti-Corruption Unit moved in immediately after the minister’s findings and took the Headmaster and PTA Chairman into custody for further investigations.
