COMMUNICATION SHOULD TAKE A CENTRAL ROLE IN ISSUES OF SERVICE DELIVERY, SAYS PS BEN KUMUMANYA

He made these remarks this morning while opening a meeting of Local Government Communication Officers held at the Imperial Royale Hotel, Kampala. The meeting aims to develop a roadmap and action plan on how to use effective communication for national development.

He also noted that Communication Officers are among the 15 key officers/cadres that local governments should prioritize for recruitment, including the 9 Heads of Department , Head of Internal Audit, Head of Procurement, PHRO, Water Department, and Secretary to the Service Commission.

He also indicated that the issue of budgeting will be raised during the next meeting of Local Government Accounting officers.

PS Ben Kumumanya, while closing the one-day meeting of Local Government Communication Officers, urged the Local Government Communication Officers to take advantage of being among the only 487,000 people employed by government to ensure that their work is visible.

While assuring the officers of his support, he called for professional accountability arguing that since they applied for their jobs, they should demonstrate their love for what they are doing.
