Budwale Health Center III In-Charge Faces Removal Following Surprise Inspection

The in-charge of Budwale Health Center III is set to be removed following concerns raised during a surprise night inspection conducted by Hon. Barugahara Balaam Ateenyi.

The development comes a day after the Minister’s unannounced visit to the health facility, where he assessed service delivery, staff attendance, and the general state of healthcare services available to the community.

According to information from the inspection and subsequent engagements, the health center in-charge is reportedly rarely present at the facility, a concern that had also been consistently raised by residents who complained about frequent absenteeism among health workers.

Following the findings, Hon. Balaam has directed the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to remove the current in-charge and replace him with Yusuf Magombe, in a move aimed at restoring effective leadership and improving service delivery at the facility.

The directive follows allegations that the absence of health workers had left patients without adequate medical attention, with community members claiming that, in some emergency situations, a non-medical support worker had been forced to provide basic first aid due to the lack of qualified personnel on duty.

During the inspection, Hon. Balaam also reviewed staff attendance records and reportedly found discrepancies between the official duty roster and the actual presence of staff. Two doctors who were listed as being on duty were reportedly absent at the time of the visit.

The Minister has emphasized the need for accountability in public health facilities, stating that government investments in healthcare infrastructure must be matched by reliable and consistent service delivery for the benefit of the public.

Meanwhile, investigations into the management and operations of Budwale Health Center III remain ongoing, with the Anti-Corruption Unit expected to continue examining staff attendance, supervision, and the use of public resources.

The anticipated leadership change is expected to mark the beginning of broader reforms aimed at improving healthcare services for residents served by Budwale Health Center III.
