Brig. Gen. Henry Isoke Calls for Stronger Local Action Against Corruption

The Head of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, Brig. Gen. Henry Isoke, called on Local Government leaders to take greater responsibility in fighting corruption within their jurisdictions, saying the structures and institutions needed to tackle the vice already exist at the local level.

Speaking during the Ministry of Local Government’s meeting on the implementation of H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s anti-corruption directive, Brig. Gen. Isoke commended the Ministry’s ongoing anti-corruption campaign and reaffirmed the State House Anti-Corruption Unit’s commitment to working closely with the Ministry and other accountability agencies. He said the fight against corruption requires a coordinated approach involving Local Governments, security agencies and accountability institutions, urging leaders to act on reported cases promptly, strengthen collaboration and manage public resources with integrity.

Brig. Gen. Isoke also reminded participants that corruption directly undermines service delivery by affecting sectors such as health, education and infrastructure, and encouraged Local Government leaders to fully support the implementation of the President’s directive to improve accountability and deliver better services to Ugandans.
