NTUNGAMO — Hon. Balaam, this morning made an impromptu stopover at Itojo Hospital in Ntungamo District on his way to Rubanda District.
While at the facility, Hon. Balaam interacted with medical personnel, patients, community members and the Hospital Administrator to get a first-hand account of the state of the hospital.
Several challenges were raised, including persistent plumbing problems, lack of an X-ray machine, an outdated generator installed in 1971, and understaffing.
Hon. Balaam assured the community that government is committed to fully renovating and equipping Itojo Hospital, which serves as one of the main highway hospitals along the Ntungamo-Mbarara corridor.
On the critical issue of the X-ray machine, the Minister immediately contacted his senior colleague, the Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, who has pledged to have a new X-ray machine installed by mid-December.
He added that a new generator will also be installed to replace the old 1971 generator
