Shs900M already paid for 1.1km as Minister finds “visible substandard and shoddy work” in Pakwach
PAKWACH — A road inspection has turned into a corruption crackdown in Pakwach District after Hon. Balaam Barugahara toured a 1.1-kilometer road project and ordered the arrest of two senior officials over what he described as “visible substandard and shoddy work.”
Pakwach Town Clerk, Mr. Adriko Simon and Municipal Civil Engineer Omeri Bonny are now in custody. The Shs1 billion project has already had Shs900 million paid out.
The Minister was assessing government projects when he reached the 1.1km road in Pakwach.
“Shs900 million of taxpayers’ money has gone out for this 1.1km. Look at it. This is not a road, this is theft,” Hon. Balaam said during the inspection.
“Pakwach people deserve better. We cannot continue to pay for air.”
