As the Induction of Local Government Councils, 2026 gets started across the first 35 entities, Tororo District is among the local governments hosting the three-day capacity-building programme for newly elected council members.
Speaking at the opening session, Mr. Wambi Richard, Chief Administrative Officer of Tororo District Local Government, welcomed the Ministry of Local Government team and commended the Ministry for supporting the induction programme and selecting Tororo among the first districts to benefit.
He congratulated the council members upon their election and urged them to embrace the programme as an opportunity to strengthen their understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
Mr. Wambi encouraged the participants to approach the induction with open minds and a willingness to learn, noting that effective local governance requires all actors to understand their respective mandates and work together as a team. He emphasised the importance of building strong working relationships between political leaders, technical staff and other stakeholders at different levels of local government to enhance service delivery to the people of Tororo.
He further called on participants to remain focused throughout the three-day engagement and make the best use of the opportunity to gain knowledge that will guide them in their new roles.
