Bugiri District joined the rest of the country this morning for the National Clean-Up Day.
The exercise, which rans from 7:30am to 10:00am on Saturday 26th Sept. 2026, is being held nationally under the theme “Together, Let’s Keep Our Communities Clean.” While the main national activity was held in Hoima City, all Local Governments – Districts, Cities and Municipalities – were directed to conduct simultaneous clean-up activities in their respective areas.
In Bugiri, the exercise was led by Hon. Barugahara Balaam Ateenyi, who joined district leaders, municipal officials and residents in sweeping streets, collecting garbage and clearing public spaces.
In line with the Ministry’s directive, the district mobilized communities to participate, provided clean-up equipment and trucks to collect and transport waste, to ensure no waste is left along streets or public spaces.
The Minister has said the monthly clean-up is aimed at promoting hygiene, community ownership and improved service delivery across all local governments.
