The Mbarara City technical and political leaders have pledged to adopt the Simplified Computerized Accounting and Reporting Tool (SCART) following its enrolment in the City divisions of North and South.
Speaking during the enrolment, Mbarara City Town Clerk, Robert Nuwamanya, said the City has been using automated systems to support its operations and is ready to embrace SCART.
“We have been using systems such as the Integrated Revenue Administration System (IRAS) and the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS), and we shall gladly use this tool to ease reporting and enhance accountability,” Nuwamanya said.
The Speaker, Tashobya Ronny K, who represented the Mayor, said Mbarara City has in the past been recognised for good revenue collection and will use SCART to further strengthen its systems.
He said the City is committed to making effective use of the new tool with the aim of positioning Mbarara as a model Local Government in the country.
The enrolment brought together Mbarara City political and technical leadership, technical staff from the two divisions, officials from the Ministry of Local Government and the Assistant Generals Office.
