The Kikunyu Parish Chief and SACCO leaders were arrested and taken to Bukoto Police Station, where they recorded statements following allegations of extortion raised against them during a community baraza held in Bukoto Sub-County.
The officials were accused by residents of demanding money from Parish Development Model (PDM) beneficiaries. Following the allegations, the Minister of State for Local Government, Hon. Justine Nameere Nsubuga, directed the SACCO leaders to refund the money allegedly collected from beneficiaries and ensure that no beneficiary is subjected to extortion.
