Moyo District – Hon. Balaam has made an impromptu visit to Lefori Health Center III, where he has uncovered glaring service delivery gaps that have frustrated residents for months.
During the inspection, the Minister found that the health facility had no patient beds. However, residents told him that beds were hurriedly purchased only after word went around that he was coming to the center.
“So you mean there were no beds until you heard I was coming? That is not how we serve our people,” Hon. Balaam said as he toured the wards.
Residents and patients who met the Minister raised further complaints about staff absenteeism. They alleged that doctors do not report to work on time, while nurses are also usually absent from the facility, leaving patients unattended.
The Minister then called on residents to attend the main community rally scheduled for this evening, where he urged them to come forward and “expose the corrupt” individuals sabotaging service delivery in the area.
“Bring the names. Bring the evidence. This evening we shall deal with those who are stealing from you and those who refuse to work,” Hon. Balaam told the crowd.
