Moyo District – Hon. Balaam paid a visit to Lefori Secondary School this week following concerns raised by parents over what they described as excessively high school fees.
During the visit, parents told the Minister that the current fees were too high and were making it difficult for many families to keep their children in school.
Hon. Balaam guided that the school administration should review and reduce the fees to a level that all parents can afford.
“Education is a right, not a privilege,” Hon. Balaam said. “We must find a balance where the fees are affordable for parents, and at the same time the school can still run effectively to provide quality education to our children.”
He urged the headteacher to work with the school board and parents’ representatives to come up with a revised fee structure that reflects the real needs of the school without overburdening families.
