MARACHA — Hon. Balaam Barugahara and Hon. Ssozi Galabuzi on have conducted an inspection of the Aru Bridge and a 4-kilometer road in Maracha District, a project reported to have cost government 1.9 billion shillings.
The two visited the site to assess the quality of works and verify whether value for money was achieved on the infrastructure project.
During the inspection, Hon. Balaam, said he was not satisfied with some of the findings on the ground and needed to compare them with official project documents.
“The purpose of coming here is to see for ourselves what has been done. We have made some practical observations and now we need to compare them with the official records,” Hon. Balaam said.
To facilitate this, the minister requested the Bills of Quantities, BOQs, for both the Aru Bridge and the 4km road. He said the BOQs will help the ministry cross-check the quantities, materials used, and costs against what was physically on site.
Hon. Dennis Galabuzi Ssozi, who accompanied him, echoed the need for accountability in government projects, noting that such inspections are meant to ensure public funds are properly utilized.
