Eight senior staff of Mitooma District Local Government have been interdicted with immediate effect following a stakeholders meeting chaired by the Hon. Minister of Local Government on 8th August, 2026 at the District Council Hall.
The meeting, convened to strengthen accountability, enhance transparency, improve service delivery and reinforce the fight against corruption in the district, was prompted by a series of complaints raised by stakeholders.
In line with the Minister’s directive, the district has submitted a list of interdicted personnel to pave way for investigations by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit and other relevant government agencies.
The interdicted staff are:
- Dr. Sadic Byamugisha — District Health Office
- Ms. Barungi Peace Gloria — District Education Officer
- Eng. Tumwebaze JohnBaptist — Senior Engineer / Ag. District Engineer
- Eng. Tumusiime Geofrey — Civil Engineer, Water
- Mr. Kagumire Godwin — Senior Environment Officer
- Mr. Rugambwa Vicent — Senior Assistant Secretary
- Mr. Mugumya Godfrey — Ambulance Driver
- Dr. Patrick Oloya — Medical Officer
The interdiction is an administrative measure and does not amount to a determination of guilt. The State House Anti-Corruption Unit, together with other agencies, is expected to commence investigations into the matters raised during the meeting.
