Minister Jim Muhwezi Highlights Security’s Role in Protecting Government Programmes

The Minister for Security, Hon. Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Jim Muhwezi Katugugu, has emphasized that national security goes beyond protecting lives and property to safeguarding government programmes and ensuring effective service delivery.

Speaking during the Ministry of Local Government’s meeting on the implementation of the President’s directive to eliminate corruption, Hon. Muhwezi said security is essential for the successful implementation of programmes such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga and other government interventions.

He noted that local government leaders, through the District Security Committees chaired by Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), play a key role in supporting the enforcement of government programmes, protecting public resources and maintaining peace and stability.

The Minister called for continued collaboration between local government leaders and security agencies to combat corruption and ensure government programmes deliver meaningful benefits to citizens.
