BUTALEJA – Hon. Balaam has closed a community engagement meeting with a tough stance against corruption at the district Council Hall.
During the meeting, Hon. Balaam listened to concerns and testimonies from ordinary people and local leaders about service delivery and alleged mismanagement of public resources in the district.
After the engagement, the Minister directed that eight officials step aside immediately to pave way for investigations by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit.
The officials affected are:
- District Inspector of Schools
- District Education Officer (DEO)
- Town Council Engineer
- District Engineer
- Town Council Treasurer
- Former Chairman LC V
- Chairman of the Service Commission
- Secretary to the Service Commission
Hon. Balaam said the officials should remain out of office until the Anti-Corruption Unit completes its investigations, to allow for independent and transparent inquiries without interference.
