140 Local Government Leaders Undergo Induction Training in Kibaale

A total of 140 parish and sub county councillors, sub-county chiefs and town clerks from Buyanja Constituency in Kibaale District are undergoing a three-day induction training organised by the Ministry of Local Government to strengthen their leadership and management skills.

The training, which commenced on Monday at Bwamiramira Sub-county headquarters in Kibaale Town Council, is scheduled to conclude on Wednesday.

Robert Sendegeya, the team leader of facilitators from the Ministry of Local Government, said the training is part of a nationwide programme aimed at equipping lower local government leaders with knowledge and skills to improve service delivery.

The training covers decentralisation policies, Government wealth creation programmes, legislation, mindset change and effective leadership, among other key areas.

Sendegeya encouraged the participants to actively engage in the training and apply the knowledge acquired to effectively execute their responsibilities and respond to the needs of their communities.

Meanwhile, the participating councillors and chairpersons welcomed the training, saying it would strengthen their leadership capacity, improve their ability to lobby for development programmes and enable them to address community needs more effectively and improve service delivery in Local Governments
